Co-Founder & CEO, Crowdo, Singapore
Leo Shimada is the Co-Founder and CEO of Crowdo, a Fintech Startup offering a full portfolio of Equity Crowdfunding and P2P lending solutions in ASEAN. He is an experienced professional with over 15 years track record in the areas of finance, strategy and technology across multiple Asia markets including Japan, Malaysia, India, China and other parts of Southeast Asia.
In April of 2012, Leo established Crowdo (CWD) in Singapore. After commercially launching the CWD platform in January of 2013, CWD has rapidly become the largest and fastest growing platform in the region on a membership basis. Leo’s key focus has been on strategy setting; regulatory engagement in multiple markets; talent management; performance management; and market expansion.
Leo started his career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company’s (the “Firm”) Tokyo office and later transferred to their Southeast Asia complex. During his nine years at the Firm, he had two focus areas: first to assist global clients in their Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activities, and secondly to assist clients launch new products and services in the technology space.
After McKinsey, Leo joined Diageo in 2007. As Diageo’s Strategy Lead for its 10+ markets in the Asia Pacific region, he was responsible for strategy development and implementation supervision both regionally and for major markets. He also played a key role for investments and setting up JVs in addition to participating in other M&A deals. During this time, he built up extensive experience in target assessment and due diligence.
In 2005, Leo obtained his MBA from INSEAD, and has a BA in Law from Keio University in Japan. Leo has also passed the Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services Exam in Singapore.
